Join us for a 20-mile walk to raise funds for Reviving an Artist’s Birthplace: A National Centre for Gainsborough
Walk the whole way or join us for just one of the legs!
Some years ago a sponsored walk to raise funds for Gainsborough’s House took place walking from Gainsborough’s House in Ipswich to Gainsborough’s House in Sudbury where much fun was had. In this diamond anniversary year a new walk is planned, walking from Constable country to Gainsborough’s House. This gentle weekend walk takes in the landscapes that inspired Suffolk’s celebrated artists Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable.
Walkers will set off from Flatford Mill, at the heart of the Dedham Vale that inspired several of Constable’s best loved pictures, and follow the gently rolling landscapes of the Stour Valley, incorporating parts of the Essex Way, Stour Valley Path and St Edmunds Way, through Nayland and Bures, finishing in Sudbury where the walk will culminate on Sunday with a celebratory lunch in the Hills Room at Gainsborough’s House.
Dogs welcome – please keep on leads!
