‘Gainsborough’s Girls’ written by Cecil Beaton, the noted photographer and costume designer, was first produced at the Theatre Royal in Brighton as part of the Festival of
Britain celebrations of 1951. A play about the London triumphs and trials of the eighteenth century society portraitist. The 21st century sees this special revival in Sudbury as part of
Gainsborough’s House transformation into the National Centre for Gainsborough.
