National Lottery #ThanksToYou

:

We are delighted to once again be taking part in the National Lottery #ThanksToYou campaign that was initiated by Gainsborough’s House in 2016. Now in it’s third year, we are joined in this campaign by hundreds of National Lottery funded visitor attractions across the UK hosting events to thank the National Lottery players, who raise on average £30million each week for projects all over the country. Gainsborough’s House has been awarded £4.7million from the Heritage Lottery Fund towards a £7.5million project that will transform the House, and an additional £500,000 towards creating a £1million Endowment. This will secure it’s future and give the opportunity to create a National Centre for Thomas Gainsborough, which will bring his life and art to many more people.

Nicole Farhi, sculptor and supporter of Gainsborough’s House said that this ‘is a perfect National Lottery project. Not only will it help disseminate the work of a great British artist, its ambition will bring both people and prosperity to Sudbury, the town of his birth.’

As a small gesture of thanks and a way of giving something back to the thousands of people who buy tickets, Gainsborough’s House will be offering free entry and a daily free guided tour to National Lottery players. Any visitor who presents a National Lottery ticket or scratchcard between Monday 3rd and Friday 7th December can visit the House and the latest exhibition, Early Gainsborough: From the Obscurity of a Country Town, free of charge.

Join us for a free guided tour:
Monday, Tuesday , Wednesday and Friday at 2pm
