Printmaking courses
Current and upcoming courses and workshops being run at Gainsborough's House.
The classes are ideal either as an introduction to printmaking or for those who wish to gain more detailed knowledge of a specific technique. Sketchbook and reference materials are welcomed and participants are advised to bring basic drawing equipment. Printmaking materials and standard papers are supplied except for plates and screen coatings. Additional materials and papers are available to buy at reasonable prices.
Tuesday morning classes 10-12.30pm
Composition, texture, tone and colour in printmaking feature in these classes and students benefit by sharing knowledge and ideas in a friendly and supportive atmosphere.
The classes are run by fully qualified lecturers and practitioners Jude Lockie, Anthony Searle, Geoff Winckles and our Workshop technician Sue Molineux.
Morning class fees: £120 per term (ten two and a half hour sessions)

Summer Term: 24 April - 2 July 2012
Wednesday evening classes 7.30-9.30pm
The classes are led by Ron Sims who trained at Manchester College of Art and at the Royal Academy Schools. He is an experienced tutor who has taught printmaking techniques to adults for many years. Ron joined Gainsborough's House Print Workshop in 1999, and is a member of the printmaking group 12PM.
Evening class fees: £80 per term (ten two hour sessions)
Three day courses
These courses help printmakers develop skills in specialist areas working with expert tutors. Although of particular interest to those with some printmaking experience, newcomers are welcome.
Geoff Winckles: Etching on Aluminium
This course features benign ways to achieve rich velvety blacks and very expressive texture through etching on aluminium with copper sulphate.

Peter Brown - Illustrative Lino
Using their own drawings to explore the rich illustrative potential of lino students produce prints using both press and hand burnishing methods

Sue Molineux - Screen Printing on Fabric
This popular course is unsuitable for large runs of a particular design but will encourage participants to experiment with the technique. Our workshop has an inspiring range of specialist inks.

Taster Days
Taster days invite newcomers to a particular technique to explore its potential. Practical demonstrations are led by our Print Workshop Technician, Sue Molineux, a experienced printmaker and a qualified lecturer. Beginners are welcome and the atmosphere is friendly and encouraging with places limited to twelve.
The fee for Taster Days, which run from 10am to 4pm, is £30 and includes basic materials. Additional materials are on sale at reasonable prices.
